The idea of Artificial Intelligence has been around as early as the 1940s, there has always been beliefs and myths about artificial beings having certain abilities but it wasn’t put to use until the inception of programmable digital computers in the 1940s. This gave programmers the idea of building a brain machine, without entering into the technology jargons, Artificial Intelligence started from inception of mathematical abilities into programs and putting them into computers, but they got more advanced and computers were able to help people with so many things different from mathematical formulas. Fast forward to the 2020s, Artificial Intelligence got it’s big break by funding and investments in some AI machines such as ChatGPT. This made Artificial Intelligence widely accepted and used all across the globe, and it slowly became a norm.
Artificial Intelligence as Problem Solvers
AI can be used in anything you can think of nowadays, it is used to create, edit, and make lives easier for the common man
It is the second human brain, it is capable of doing so many things outside of our imagination, examples are;
- AI can be a tool for developing ideas, from educational essays, to content writing, and personal blogs. Although, it should not be relied on for personal ideas due to relatability.
- AI can be used to built complex software, due to it’s ability to solve mathematical and physical problems faster, it makes coding and computer language easier
- AI literally thinks for humans, it helps in getting out of creative blocks, as humans, we run out of our creative juices sometimes and with the help of AI, it gives us ideas to ignite these creativity and make our lives and works easier
Limitations of Artificial Intelligence
- Most capable AI models today are money-based, they offer little to no free complex services, and this makes it harder for people that does not have the means to create using AI
- Artificial Intelligence does not live in our daily lives, it cannot relate with our minds completely, therefore, cannot represent the human in thinking and creating.
- Data privacy, algorithmic bias, and the fear of losing real jobs to AI are major fears in using them, therefore, AI should be used with human supervision and not total reliance.
The Future of AI Innovation
AI is still evolving, and its potential continues to expand. In the future, AI would act as a partner in decision-making, creativity, and problem-solving, and thereby opening a new portal of technology advancement.
Using Artificial Intelligence Effectively
Artificial Intelligence is very useful in so many areas of the human lives, but there are ways to use it effectively;
- We should avoid total reliance on Artificial Intelligence for our work. It can only make our work easier or spark creativity, we cannot ignore our own brains and make AI the creator of our own supposed work. This makes our work generic, and it deteriorates the ability of humans.
- Artificial Intelligence as a tool cannot be our day-to-day consultant, it does not have emotions, and as humans, we are built with emotions, we need emotions to survive. AI can only provide faux emotional support, it can never replicate the emotional support we get from other humans.
Problems of Artificial Intelligence
AI, being able to do the work of creatives (although not as effectively) has made so many creatives lazy and rely completely on it, thereby, reducing the level of creativity in humans in the long run. And this also makes a non-professional disguise as a professional, thereby using AI as cover-up for the sub-standard services they provide.
Artificial Intelligence is important not just because of the problem solving ability, but also being the human’s partner, it makes the human focus on actually creating and it analyzes complex data for them. It also makes the world a simpler place to live by providing information readily.
Nevertheless, this usage of AI can only be effective if used as partners, and not total reliability or total replacement of human brains.
